obsolete snap on non ball bearing 8-3053 slides

Surprised that they no longer support that. I like the small ball bearing "lock and roll" boxes, I have one I managed to get all the tools for my lathe in it and added a set of slides for the bottom deep drawer. Have another for my mechanics tools and did the same thing, I don't know what the weight capacity is on that bottom drawer now but I have 2 collet chucks, a 6" 3 jaw and an 8" 4 jaw in it and it slides easily.
In regards to your damaged slide; Maybe just straighten it out the best you can and reverse it when you put it back in. Those seem to be surprisingly tough and by turning it around it might put the stress on undamaged areas?

You'll probably have to make something, or make something work. I don't think Snap-on made their own slides. Most of the decent boxes have slides from Accuride.

I have a metal bench with non BB slides for the drawers. If I had to repair it, I would get a pair of BB slides and be way ahead. Heck, if I started working on it I would probably replace all of them with BB slides.

I'd be embarrassed to publicize this "problem ", just take measurements and get something that fits.
Unless you are fixated on "original "....
Anything you find will be superior. Those are 3/4 extension or less, right?
I doubt the thickness is going to be a problem.

Cabinet hardware-big box stores like Menards.

Bitch a lot until they fix it... lifetime means lifetime
Unfortunately unless you have a really good tool guy you are probably porked on that approach. I'm sure you can figure something out to fix it yourself. I would be pissed.

Are the boxes guaranteed for life, is the damage from abuse or wear and tear.

This is a 1980 ish "taco cart", full extension slides, was top of the line back in the day. Holy crap that's almost 40 years ago! I would replace with standard Accuride ball bearing slides if I am not able to get what I need, but I'm sure they are available somewhere. I'll give Snap On a call as I would imagine they have some source even though the PN comes up as unable on their site. Wouldn't be surprised if one of the other truck brands has something that fits from their vintage parts back catalog, but I haven't seen non BB slides in a while...

The Accurides or equivalent all require 1/2" of clearance per side and are about 1.875" tall but as noted above, are way way better. These seem like the kind of little slides that require less clearance but that is the key dimension. If you had 1/2" per side, replace them all with new slides. The cabinet will be much nicer to use.
-
I have plenty of accurides here (I use them for some furniture I build) but I don't think there is enough clearance. All of my stuff is in Listas, this will probably float around the shop with some lightweight stuff in it.

good point on the guaranteed for life issue, I'll bring that up when I call. Looking around I now see that some folks as recently as 2015 have gotten whole sets of replacements for free (!)

Seems like the modern consumer approach is to pitch a fit and make threats until you get what you want. That's what I'm seeing anyway.

Called Snap on and they were very helpful, the part was superseded by #8-767 and they are shipping 2 sets free within 24hrs. THATS customer service! (I suppose the on line catalog should have referenced the new part number, but hey...)
